We are happy to announce the release of our new merge tool to select users.
Every now and then you might find a record that has been entered into the database multiple times. Sometimes these records have the exact same name and sometimes they have slightly different names. In order to keep the database as accurate as possible, it's imperative that the duplicate records are corrected. There are a few ways to begin the merge process
How to access the merge tool
- Navigate to the Merge Duplicate Records link under the Maintenance menu.
- Click the Merge Duplicates button in either the Search report, Progeny report, or Siblings report
How to use the merge tool
- Select the records that you want to merge together. You can do this by clicking the green "Search for a new dog..." button and searching for the dog in the popup window. Once you find the desired record, it will be added to the list below. You may merge up to three records at a time.
- Once you have chosen all the records that you want to merge together, select the target dog that you want to use as the primary record by clicking "Merge into this record." Any other records will be merged into this record.
- For each field listed under the records, click the value you want to keep from any of the animals. The selected value will be highlighted. Some fields will allow you to select the values from multiple records, others will only allow you to select one value.
- You must select at least one value for each field before you can submit. If you unselect a value, the value of the target record will be selected.
- For all records that are being merged, you must check the checkbox confirming that you understand the record will be deleted after merging.
- Double check your selections - the merge cannot be undone!
- Click "Submit" at the bottom when you're ready to merge the records.
Notes:
- To prevent accidental deletion, records with more than 10 offspring may only be selected as the target record.
- We will only allow you to merge records whose names are similar to each other.
- If you do not have permission to edit locked records, you will not be able to merge from or into a record that is locked.
Please contact support if either of the above incorrectly restrict you from merging two duplicate records and we will be happy to help.
